Although pools can be a great addition to a house for the kids, there are always safety hazards with them. Each year many kids drown in private pools because their pools are not secured. Parents should be on high alert with their kids and an open pool but a parent can't keep their eyes on kids 24/7.
The fist way to secure a pool would be to put a fence that surrounds all sides of the pool. This can either be a regular backyard fence, or a netted fence that goes directly around the pool. Two pool fence companies that are recommended are Protect-A-Child and Katchakid.

Another way to secure a pool would be to have a pool net. This is a net that lays across a pool that is installed by professionals. Although this is limited throughout the country and not the most widely used product, the parents who have it say it is worth the hassle and money.

Finally the last way is to have a floatation device on your child when they are near the pool. Whether they are swimmies or a lift vest, a floatation device for a child is completely necessary. If a child falls in, they will float and can be rescued with out risk of drowning. Although the pool net and the pool fence work, if they fail the life vest can be the last resort and the difference between life or death.
